Good Samaritan Project (GSP) offers a broad range of care for men, women and children affected by HIV/AIDS. Services are FREE and available to those who have tested positive for HIV or AIDS and are enrolled in Ryan White case management. Your case manager is the point of entry for all services listed below. For additional information, contact the GSP’s Case Manager of the Day at 816-561-8784.

Available Services

  • Case Management is a partnership that teaches HIV positive individuals to cope with HIV/AIDS and to access medical/social services. In case management, the client develops self advocacy skills and is linked to other GSP services or community services, such as nutrition assistance, dental care, medical care, and housing.
  • Mental health counseling by licensed therapists. GSP offers a variety of therapists and counseling options. This service is available to all Ryan White clients in the system.
  • Transportation assistance is available in the form of bus passes and cab vouchers to access medical and pharmacy services. This service is based on need, restricted to GSP clients, and depends upon availability of funding.
  • Support groups and educational retreats are organized periodically to address client health and social concerns. Contact the office to learn about upcoming events for men or women. This service is available to all Ryan White clients in the region.
  • Buddy companions are assigned to socially isolated and/or homebound clients and normally meet with them on a weekly basis. This service is available to all Ryan White clients in the region.
  • Interfaith volunteer teams provide a variety of care for individuals and their families. Assistance may take the form of transportation, home chores, grocery shopping, etc. This service is available to all Ryan White clients in the region.
  • Spiritual support is available to all Ryan White clients, partners and families. Services vary depending upon individual needs, but may include visits, telephone consultation, bereavement, groups and other support.
  • HIV Drug Trials GSP partners with Dybedal Center at the Kansas City University of Medicine & Biosciences to offer drug trials to clients. For more information contact your case manager or Dybedal Center.

If you are not receiving Ryan White services, but think you may qualify, or, if you have lost contact with your case manager, call GSP for help. We will be happy to assist you. Contact the Case Manager of the Day, 816-561-8784.

Eligibility requirements for Ryan White enrollment

  • Have an HIV/AIDS Diagnosis
  • Provide proof of income not to exceed 300% of poverty
  • Live in the 11-county area (Missouri: Cass, Clay, Clinton, Jackson, Lafayette, Platte, Ray and Bates; Kansas: Johnson, Miami, Leavenworth and Wyandotte) or receive primary care within the 11-county area.

Documentation that may be required to enroll (applicants should gather these documents)

  • Complete screening form
  • Provide verification of HIV/AIDS status from a primary care provider or test site
  • Provide Medicaid application–denial/approval info
  • Show ID (drivers license, birth certificate, SSI card)
  • Provide income verification
  • Present insurance card (for private insurance)
